Thank you for coming to Greatgiftideasformom.com. I decided to start this site in 2015 when I was struggling to figure out a fresh Birthday gift idea for my Mother. I had fallen into a rut of giving the same gift cards annually, and although she always loved her Barnes & Noble gift card with Club Membership, I felt I could add some pizzazz! 

My decision to launch the site was solidified after my Mom passed away and my sister and I were cleaning out her house.  There were so may unused gift cards and boxes of unused gifts.  She was a great gift giver in her own right so it all culminated trying to inspire Great Gifts for Mom’s! They deserve it!

Taking inspiration from the best two gifts I ever gave my mother; The first was taking her to an NFL football game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Baltimore Ravens. It was free to us as a gift from my employer at the time. The second best gift I ever gave her was a Key-lime Pie, sent from bakery in Key West.

Somewhere along the line I remember talking to my cousin about his gifting philosophy for my Aunt and Uncle basically his opinion “We don’t give a gift that’s less than Thousand Dollars or more since they have everything they could ever want!” That to got me thinking there might be a better way.

The focus of many of the products and services that I’m promoting here is going to be experiences, classes, and other ways to learn new skills. There will be items to facilitate experiences, as well as some unique gift recommendations.

Cleaning out a parent’s house can be emotionally draining as well as a rewarding trip down memory lane, but mostly it’s taxing.  That has led me to try and select interesting gifting ideas that don’t add a lot of clutter to the home.  I’m a huge fan of Amazon and other such delivery services, but a gift of a class or learning opportunity might be some novel to break the typical gift model.  Hopefully, there is an interesting gift idea that sparks a smile from your mom on Mother’s Day, on her Birthday, or at the holidays!
